We believe that independence is built step by step. Our Life Skills Training programme equips young people with the practical knowledge and confidence they need to manage daily life successfully. By learning essential skills in a supportive environment, residents are better prepared to move towards independent living.

What is Life Skills Training?

Life Skills Training helps young people prepare for adulthood by focusing on everyday skills often taken for granted. Whether it’s managing money, cooking healthy meals, or keeping a home safe and clean, our programme ensures each individual gains the tools needed to thrive beyond supported accommodation.

Who is this For?

  •   Young people aged 16–17 in Supported Accommodation.
  •   Those preparing to move into independent or transitional housing.
  •   Individuals needing extra guidance in managing routines and responsibilities.
  •   Anyone looking to build confidence in self-care and decision-making.

What We Do?

Our dedicated support workers guide young people through both practical sessions and one-to-one coaching. The programme is tailored to individual needs and may include:

  •   Budgeting and money management.
  •   Cooking, nutrition, and meal planning.
  •   Household management (cleaning, safety, and organisation).
  •   Personal care and hygiene routines.
  •   Time management and scheduling
  •   Travel training and community navigation

What We Do Under Disability Care?

We work closely with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals to deliver a holistic approach. Our carers provide one-to-one or group support depending on individual needs, while encouraging decision-making, independence, and personal growth.

Benefits of Life Skills Training

  •   Builds confidence and independence for adulthood.
  •   Reduces anxiety about managing life alone.
  •   Encourages healthy and sustainable lifestyle habits
  •   Improves decision-making and problem-solving skills
  •   Provides a strong foundation for long-term success in housing, education, or employment.

We make learning hands-on, practical, and supportive. Skills are not just taught, but practiced in real-life scenarios — cooking in the kitchen, budgeting with actual examples, or planning a week’s schedule together. Progress is reviewed regularly so young people can see how far they’ve come and set new goals for growth.
