Creating a safe, healing, and growth-focused environment

We believe that lasting healing begins through meaningful relationships and consistent support. Our therapeutic model of care is woven into daily routines, staff interactions, and the overall environment, ensuring that every child’s emotional, developmental, and behavioural needs are understood and nurtured.

We use a Therapeutically Informed Model of Care, built around:

  • Helping children to regulate emotions and build resilience.
  • Repairing the impact of trauma and disrupted attachment.
  • Strengthening secure, trusting relationships with adults.
  • Creating spaces that are sensory-aware and supportive
  • Designing individualised therapeutic plans integrated into everyday living.

The PACE Framework

 Playfulness • Acceptance • Curiosity • Empathy

Our staff embed the PACE model, created by Dr. Dan Hughes, into every interaction with children. This approach promotes connection over correction and helps children to feel safe enough to explore, trust, and grow.

  •   Playfulness: Using humour, games, and lightness to build safety and reduce defensiveness.
  •   Acceptance: Acknowledging a child’s feelings and experiences without judgment, separating behaviour from identity.
  •   Curiosity: Gently wondering about the meaning behind behaviours, encouraging children to reflect and understand themselves.
  •   Empathy: Responding with compassion, attunement, and understanding, helping children to co-regulate during times of stress.

With PACE, even ordinary routines—bedtime, mealtimes, or moments of conflict—become opportunities for healing and connection.

Why This Approach Matters

Many children entering residential care have lived through trauma, neglect, or broken attachments. Traditional behaviour management methods often fail to address these experiences, and can even retraumatise.

Our therapeutic, PACE-informed ethos ensures children feel safe, understood, and supported, which:

  •   Builds secure attachments and trust
  •   Supports long-term emotional development:
  •   Promotes healthy coping and resilience
  •   Reduces placement breakdowns and instability
